Everyone says the Queen of Shadows is their favorite book in this series, and I must agree 100%! As the 4th book in the series it is everything we have been waiting for plus so much more. It also opens up the story for the next few books.
I’m not going to lie, Chaol (who I loved in book one) was the only thing I hated in this book. The rest of the characters are amazing, we are introduced to a few new main characters who bring a new element and mystery to the story. I really enjoy all the strong females in this series, while Aelin and Manon shine the smaller female roles are amazing too and I fangirl over how badass and strong they all are! The book is full of action and suspense and really I feel like it will be the quiet before all hell on earth breaks loose (literally).
There are lots of plot twists as is a Maas specialty, at one point I just closed the book and left the room I was so beyond shocked! I feel that Maas has given us the story we deserve after getting 4 books into the series and I cannot wait to read the next installment. While she gives us a lot in this book I know there is so much more to come, story and plot twist wise.
As I said before this is a fantastic 4th installment and if you were feeling a bit let down or demotivated by the 3rd book give this one a read, you won’t regret it!
